Christmas Party 2008

Today is the school’s Christmas party. I do not know whether I should feel excited or what. This is the very last time I will celebrate a Christmas Party in high school at CNSHS. True, I’ll miss every moment of it so I decided to cherish it? If it is worth to be cherished, that is the case.

Okay, it was around 4 AM when I woke up. I can’t sleep because of the noise created by our neighbors. I decided to go back to sleep. I woke up 6 in the morning. 15 minutes later, my service van will arrive soon. I told to my mother that I will not go with the service and go to school at least 8 in the morning and I really did that. My plan was not to go in the morning program because it is the school level party held by the Supreme Student Government. When I received Marco’s text message, that’s the time I decided to go to school to join his boredom. When I arrived at school at least quarter to 8 o’ clock, Marco showed to me his black-tinted fingernails. How I envy those nails, I wanted to apply a black nail polish on my fingernails, too. Not to show off that I’m emo or whatsoever.

The program was way too boring. I didn’t notice that the people around me were already playing games because I was so busy talking stuffs with Gerlyn and Kathleen in the school’s gymnasium. At least, I joined in the fun of cheering to my batchmates. I remembered how Jerice dragged me to join the “Touch Me Not” game. I just guessed a slippery banana. I laughed to myself when I asked about Alyssa and Brian Tomas if the game was safe to play.

Before the morning program ends, the juniors gave the whole school a performance which the seniors enjoyed jamming around. We just said these few lines: “I’ll be here forever… forever… I’ll be here forever…”, along with waving of hands in the air. After that, the seniors gave us a nice performance? Actually, I cannot understand what the hell are Milky and Paul singing up there. Even though, we swayed through the beat. Brian was still cool in the drums and Nico was still crazy as ever. The seniors gave another performance, but this time it was dedicated to someone. Our class president and tropa ng lahat, Jasper John Z. Vergara. Jerolyn, the SSG president, stood up with her electric guitar and lead the band composing of herself in guitars and vocals, Jake in guitars, Jehno in bass, and Brian in drums. Despite of their past relationship, she sang ‘Last Look’ of Chicosci and everyone stared at Jasper (he was having an intimate time with Claudine here) and pulled him towards the stage to duet with Jerolyn.

At last! It is lunch break, and I needed to go home to fetch my gift to Napoleon which I’ll discuss later why I was needed to go home. As I was about to go back to school, I needed to catch a bus going to Maragondon to have a cheaper fare. I was kind of irritated in the bus conductor because the way he stares at me scares the hell out of me. When he asked my destination, he sat right beside me and I had to move away an inch (I was supposed to move a feet away if weren’t for the bus window) to avoid the skin contact. I had to glare evilly at him to have him stay away from me. I am not comfortable if someone is looking at me and having those creepy skin contacts. When I arrived at school, he was still looking at me. A maniac. You bet he is! Good heavens, I am safe from him or else, I’ll use my kung-fu to him!

When I entered our classroom, I was kind of surprised when my adviser, Ma’am Adette, told me that I was going to represent the class of being Ms. Suave, a mini-competition wherein the girl must be a boy. I was supposed to say a big N-O to her, I have a nagging feeling if I refuse her, she’ll lower my grades in Advanced Physics! I had no choice but to agree to it but I told to her that I won’t bring home the bacon because: first, I don’t know how to act as a boy since I’m a certified girl. Secondly, even though I have an older brother, I used to grow up in the pampering of my mother in Barbie stuffs so I won’t get a boy influence on me. Thanks to Camille for my “boy attire” clothes, I was made to be a boy. Good luck to me.

After doing some parlor games, the mini-competition has begun. I had no choice but to step in right there and do whatever. The problem is: I don’t have self-confidence to do that. I might be “thick-faced” with my classmates, but I cannot put up that face into my batchmates. It was so embarrassing. Plus, they were not used to see me in wearing ‘boy’ clothes. I was totally distracted when my adviser sat in front of the stage. That’s why I don’t know what to do. I asked Jervie and Napo at the back to tell me what should I do, and they gave me nonsense advices. Thanks to them, I have to face a total humiliation. I don’t carry that self-confidence when it comes into competitions like this. I have a confidence in which I can sing my heart out with my band; after all I am their vocalist. Oh, another factor why I lost my confidence: all of the competitors are SALIW members. That gives me triple damn. Micah Borja on Nitrogen, Jerolyn on Oxygen and Jacque on Hydrogen. How can a commoner like me can compete with them? They’re super talented people while I’m just a trash.

Jacque was declared the winner in Ms. Suave. After that, we played another classic parlor game: the longest line. Fluorine is really biased when it comes to this game. You see, we have the most population in the whole batch when it comes into class population. We had to lay down everything, and what’s nice here? My boy classmates wanted to win so much that they decided to wear just their boxers in order to win the game. The only problem is another game wherein we must wear everything that we took off. Okay, we lost that game. It is alright because we all had fun.

Kainan blues na! Me, Camille, Joan and Hannah had already a mouth-watering foods on our plates but we’re not yet contented. After eating, my class (Fluorine) locked ourselves in our room and started to sing along in the videoke. We sang many songs and some of them were: Hot by Avril Lavigne & Hotel California. After that, we had our annual exchanging of gifts. Now you wonder why do I have to go home earlier? It is because the meat might be spoiled. Remember that I bought a CDO Pear-shaped ham to Napoleon. I was surprised when Jehno granted one of my Christmas wishes: to have an American Boulevard bag.

After the party, we went to Jasper’s house to celebrate the last Christmas party that we’re going to spend with him. Only close friends were invited. We watched a lot of horror DVDs and even a pirated Twilight DVD. Edu Manzano will be angry at us because we support piracy.

To freshen up, we went to the seaside to enjoy our stay even though it was already near midnight when we went there. It was freezing cold there. I had to endure the cold because I don’t have any jacket or sweater to warm me up. When we went back, my mother fetched me home. It was a great experience just in one day. Totally fun!
