Japanese Drama Review -- Blog Entry
Mei-chan no Shituji (Mei's Butler) is a romantic comedy drama series that it tells about Mei's experiences in Saint Lucia Girl's Academy as it helps her to be a prim and proper lady in the future generation. Mei's butler is Shibata Rihito, which is a S-Rank Butler, who is devoted to serve her in all times. Mei, being a transfer student, will experience different hardships and how to mingle with other young ladies around. Plus, being the direct grandchild of the Hongo family, Japan's richest family, it will be very hard for her to cope since both of her parents died in an accident.
Hanazaki no Kimitachi E ~Ikemen Paradise~ is also another romantic comedy drama series wherein Mizuki disguises as a boy to meet Sano Izumi, a high-jumper athlete who broke off his tendon at the back of his foot so he can't jump anymore. It happened when he was undergoing his training in America, that happens that Mizuki was there almost harassed by guys, Izumi defended her but a guy took a shard of glass and it cut his tendon. Mizuki comes to enroll at Osaka Gakuen where Izumi is studying. She will force Izumi to go back into high-jumping again. The problem is... the school doctor had known that she is a girl sneaking into an all-boys school. What is she going to do now?
My Personal Views
Mei-chan no Shitsuji is like your typical shoujo manga wherein the heroine will experience too many hardships in life and always bullied by her other classmates or somebody around her. What I liked about the story is that the setting was very well done. I don't think the characters gave justice. Personally, it didn't reached my expectations for a shoujo heroine. But, this drama series will be recommended. I'm giving it 4.2 / 5.
